Kalmanstjörn

Address:

The second largest brood stock farm for Atlantic salmon

Kalmanstjörn is Benchmark Genetics Iceland´s second largest brood stock farm for Atlantic salmon. The farm started to operate in 1985 and was acquired in 1991.

The farm is land-based and located close to the ocean on the southwest corner of Iceland. Sea- and freshwater is pumped up from deep drilled boreholes in a closed system, ensuring no contact with wild fish. This is essential in the support of our strict bio security system.

Smolt intakes occur twice per year from our own closed freshwater hatchery, Kollafjörður. All tanks are in-door and specially designed for broodstock farming. At Kalmantjörn we have seven employees and the production capacity is around 90 million eyed salmon eggs a year.
