On the morning of the 8th of February, there was a new eruption with subsequent lava flow on the Reykjanes Peninsula in Iceland. Authorities have declared a state of emergency in the area due to a hot water pipeline being out of order and a potential risk related to the Svartsengi power plant.
Our facilities are located at a safe distance from the incident, and we can receive power from another power plant if Svartsengi fails. The main water source for our facilities is well water from our own wells. We purchase hot water from public sources for heating offices and for heating water for the final maturation of the broodstock. The lava flow has affected this pipeline, but for now, we are replacing the hot water for heating with electricity. Icelandic authorities have constructed a new water pipeline that can be connected to the system within a few days to replace the pipeline affected by the lava flow. We assume that we will then again be supplied with hot water from the public source.
In addition, we have a very good generator power capacity and fuel supplies to ensure our operations continue for an extended period in case the electrical supply system is also damaged. We are confident that the operations at our facilities will continue as usual and that there should be no impact on egg deliveries from our facilities in Iceland.
