BioMar and Benchmark Freshwater Seminar on Best Practices and Innovations

Last week, for the second year in a row, BioMar and Benchmark gathered customers for a freshwater seminar at the beautiful Hardangerfjord Hotell. The event featured presentations on relevant areas such as feed, genetics, research, and production – all designed to facilitate the sharing and exchange of best practices for salmon production in freshwater.

Thommy Holmvåg, Commercial Lead Genetics at Benchmark Genetics presented the latest updates on salmon ova production and discussed incubation temperature.

Our Sales & Documentation Manager, Stein Johannessen, gave a presentation about the significance of our facility at Lønningdal—the heart of our breeding program for the SalmoBreed strain, dedicated to producing our future broodstock and genetic families.

Erik Burgerhout from Nofima shared insights from the FHF project SalmoCode, along with recent findings on early life stages in salmon embryo development. Ida Beitnes Johansen from NMBU provided an in-depth presentation on how temperature impacts heart health and development in salmon production.

Additionally, smolt producers such as Ænes Inkubator and Hardingsmolt contributed by sharing the latest updates from their RAS facilities and their experiences with both technical and biological parameters in their production processes.

Julie Elise Trovaag, Customer Advisor Land-Based at BioMar, has talked about what’s salmon feed really made of and the importance of feeding in salmon production.
