New product line with enhanced genetic improvements

In 2024 Benchmark Genetics launched a new optimised Salmon Ova Product Line with refined selection methods designed to elevate genetic performance with enhanced selection intensity of traits for salmon growth and robustness.

Our new product line offers high genetic potential for freshwater and seawater growth performance, high resistance to specific diseases, including IPN and CMS, and solid robustness in our customers’ typical farm environments.

To be a preferred partner and supplier genetic of material to salmon farmers, we invest in research and development for genetic improvement for production in our biosecure broodstock facilities, and we prioritise excelling in precise customer deliveries and follow-up in our commercial work. We strive to contribute to sustainable growth in salmon farming, including higher survival rates, better fish welfare, and profitability for our customers. The new product portfolio is based on a new selection model where greater emphasis is placed on the most important traits for our customers to achieve higher intensity, where genetic foundation makes a significant difference to salmon performance. SalmoPrime® is selected for strong growth and extra strong resistance to IPN, in addition to a balanced selection for resistance to resistance to CMS, PD, Lice, and ISA, and a lower risk of early maturation. Two premium products SalmoBoost® and SalmoRobust® have further strengthened selection for growth, IPN and CMS, in addition to the baseline traits. We offer SalmoRAS® developed for land-based production, and SalmoTailored®, a customized product based on customer specifications, produced on request. We strive to achieve higher productivity, better profitability, and improved fish health, and welfare for the benefit of our customers.
